retail therapy
It is a term used to describe the act of buying special things for yourself in order to feel better when you are unhappy:
1. I'm feeling down in the dumps today. I think I need some retail therapy.
2. I try not to rely on retail therapy too much, but treating myself to a fancy restaurant puts me in a good mood.
3. I'm stressed at work, so I decide to resort to retail therapy to cheer me up.
